Hi, It looks like the engine is already 'causing a stir among enthusiasts. I thought i would throw in my two cents as well.
I have attached a pdf file describing an engine that uses users votes to categorize knowledge on the internet, much like knowledge is categorized in a library. A query would show results with the option to refine them by selecting categories...so that a search for "Travel" would allow you to pick from categories like destinations,tickets,hotels, etc.
Pages would be categorized under several categories by a 'best guess' algorithm. This would further be refined by the vote of the users. So pages getting few votes are purged from those categories; leaving behind only relevant pages.
In the end, you have a system that is constantly refined by those who use it. Here is a link to the idea. Of course since this is a discussion, your critique will further enlighten us.
