Forum:Collaborative Bookmarking?
Hey, I'm Corey White. Love the idea for Jimbo's search engine. I've been working along these lines too, and have always felt wikipedia already makes a better search engine than google. One project I started was a colaborative bookmarking venture. People create there own bookmarks, share them with friends. And it creates a tree of everyone in the worlds favorite bookmarks, which can then be sorted through to find common threads. If one person has similar bookmarks to you, then maybe the site will tell you that their bookmarks are relavent to yours. So your own searches on the engine are dependent on what bookmarks you have already discovered.
I'm not working on the project anymore, but I do run my own search engine called ckoogle.. http://www.ckoogle.com/ckoogle if you want to see. It is actually just a CGI proxy to google, where I changed the google logo and everything. Might even be illegal, but its just a joke.
Anyway, I need a job. Can I work for you Jimbo?
(edit) the ckoogle logos may not appear during the holidays, but the proxy does a good job with other things like removing the advertisements and directing users off of the proxy when you aren't searching google. :)
