Help:MediaWiki namespace

A MediaWiki page is a page in the MediaWiki namespace. The namespace is named after the software, MediaWiki, because edits to these pages change the software's interface.

The namespace is permanently protected and can only be edited by administrators. The pages in this namespace are listed in Special:Allmessages. Edits allow changing of elements such as the sidebar.
