Help:Signature

  < Help < Signature

It is recommended that all users - logged-in users and IPs – sign all their talk page and forum entries.

Note: "Articles" in the main namespace are not supposed to be signed.

[edit] Three ways of signing

Just type -- ~~~~ (that's 4 tilde (~) characters) at the end of your comments. The wiki will automatically convert this into a link to your user page, and a date/timestamp. The two hyphens are used as an optical differentiation between comment and signature (wiki tradition, adopted from usenet). You can, of course, use the following button in the edit toolbar for signing: button_sig.png

Variations of this are ~~~ (3 tildes) for just the link to your user page, and ~~~~~ (5 tildes) for just the timestamp.

For those who are not used to the term "UTC": It means Coordinated Universal Time.

[edit] Examples

Just for the curious ones, rieke signed below in the three different ways ;-)

Signature shows up as
-- ~~~~ -- rieke 04:12, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
~~~ rieke
~~~~~ 04:12, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
