Keywords are used during the creation of a website.
Although not seen on the site itself the words are used to help search engines provide an answer to search queries.
A very basic example would be a computer repair firm in London called fixIT the keywords could include...
- repair
- upgrade
- computer
- PC
- London
- IT
As well as the variants in spelling and tense that may be used as search terms by the people using the search engine.
This enables the search engines to find the sites without the need for the brand name (in this case fixIT) or website URL.
