1337 (a.k.a. l33t sp34k or Leet Speak) is a type of comminicative writing, used by replacing letters with numb3r5. 1337 stands for leet, which has it's root in the word elite. Normally letters are mixed with numbers, but using the correct numbers and occasionally also $pec!a| <hara<ters, almost every letter can be replaced by one or more numbers and special characters:
