A blog (short for "web log") is a website (edit) where users can either provide comments or news on a particular subject or, increasingly, where users maintain their own online diaries. A typical blog combines text and images with links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Technorati is a popular open-source blog resource and search engine.
Because they can be updated in real-time, the “blogosphere” doubles in size every 6 months. In 2006, 75,000 new blogs are started every day and 1.2 million new entries are posted daily — or about 50,000 blog updates every hour.
