Central bank is a public institution, independent from government and politicians, which in mandated to keep inflation low and stable. Duties include controlling subsidized-loan interest rates, and acting as a "bailout" lender of last resort to the banking sector during times of financial crisis. Central banks include the ECB (edit), the U.S. Federal Reserve (edit), the Bank of England (create) and the Bank of Japan (create).
