Mini:Midi controller

MIDI controller may mean one of two things.

  • It may mean a hardware (create) or software (edit) device which generates and transmits control data to electronic sound devices. This may be a human interface device (create) such as a keyboard, knobs or sliders.
  • MIDI controller may also mean a virtual control number in the MIDI protocol. These control numbers can be assigned to real controls (knobs for example) on a physical device. Within the MIDI protocol, the position of the physical controller is transmitted along with its assigned controller number.
