Tarot refers to:
- a deck of (78) cards, divided into five suits: 22 atouts or trumps (sometimes considered as 21 plus the un-numbered fool), and four suits each consisting of 10 numbered cards and four court cards (the valet, cavalier, queen and king).
- a number of games played with the deck. The set of games is generally called in French 'tarot', in Italian 'tarocchi', and in German 'tarok'. Numerous other languages tend to use one of these three.
- a number of metaphysical beliefs and practices attached to the non-gaming use and contemplation of the deck. The primary alternative use for tarot is fortune-telling, the second being symbolic interpretation of tarot's imagery.
