Mini:Treaty of Lisbon
The Treaty of Lisbon, also known as the Reform Treaty, was signed on December 13, 2007 at a summit in Lisbon (edit), Portugal. It amends the existing treaties of the European Union and will come into force, possibly in 2009, after ratification by all 27 EU member states. It provides for a number of reforms including a permanent EU president, a foreign minister, a reduced number of commissioners, a clause on withdrawal from the EU and a full legal personality allowing the EU to sign international agreements.
