[edit] Table markup for developer list
I don't really like the new table that much. One might say a qualified software developer should be able to figure out how to add themselves with the more complex markup; however, this makes it a bit more difficult and time-consuming, and I really don't see that it's that critical. Information about experience levels and so on, if desired, can be added freestyle after the ~~~~. At the very least, there should be some sort of legend of the symbols to be used in the table, and it should start out blank for those who did not fill it out for themselves. Thank you. +1.
It's a bit of a mess right now. Besides I question the value of self-evaluated experience levels when it comes to comparing different developers. After 1 year of Java coding I would have ranked myself higher than I do now (back then I just didn't realise how much I didn't know about the language). Perhaps number of months/years experience in each language provides a more objective scale.

- I'm missing Informations here. Don't forget Skills about
- Webformats (SGML/XML, (x)HTML, RDF/OWL, Microformats, RSS/ATOM, PDF, etc.)
- Programming Languages like Basic, C#, etc.; why should there be no Mono-Framework? Mono is not only platform independend, but also language independand and is able to interact with Java Apps too.
- There should be not only Programmers, but also Application Designers which are care only about how the things should work, and what to split into components, and which APIs should be there. Therefore we need Peoples with UML Skills and knowledge about distributed systems and security and unit testing - even when they programm in another language than the implementation does.
- JavaScript/AJAX and SOAP/WSDL might be also interesting.

[edit] Unsourced, damaging comments about developers
The anonymous user 87.234.135.179 who created the table markup (see above), also added some possibly damaging comments about developers who were already on the list. For instance, see this. I have addressed this on the user's talk page, and these comments should most likely be reverted very soon. Charm 23:13, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- I have removed the unsourced comment about a developer having "no coding experience". I am very tempted to also remove all the other information the anon user filled in about various developers. The only thing is, I'm willing to entertain the possibility the anon user actually researched each developer's User pages and web site links, and made the comments based on that research. Personally, I feel that even if this is the case, the space on the article page should be reserved for the developers to provide about themselves, and any comments someone wants to make based on research about other users should be placed here on the talk page.
- May I have some input from other active editors here? Should we remove the unsourced, possibly unreliable information from the table (possibly moving it to Talk)? Should we give the anon user a couple more days to explain where the comments came from? Does anyone else think we should get rid of this table altogether (developers can give this information freestyle, on their User pages, and/or on their websites)?
- Thank you. Charm 06:20, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- +1 to getting rid of the table altogether. It's not just ugly. As it stands it's plain wrong. --Ktorn 04:36, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] YaCy and Cspace
yacy does not use cspace in any way. And as far as i know, cspace does not use yacy in any way.
[edit] Table Cleanup
I fixed the split and duplication of the table that happened a few days ago. I am also going to clean up the formatting and move things (such as web pages) to their correct location. Also, I'm going to try to make an easy to use guide to how to add to the table. -- Bantab 23:04, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
OK, so I finished cleaning up the table a lot, and I may do more, but I wanted to note that I switched reference coded app to Previous Project Experience. I know that the original intent may have been different, but it seemed like that was what most people were putting anyway. I hope that is ok with everyone... I decided to be bold, so if I'm wrong, I won't take offense. -- Bantab 00:04, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
